How our scan works
This page is for website owners. It tells you what our scan bot fetches, how the bot identifies itself and how to block it.
What the bot fetches
- A scan fetches one page: the address that a person enters for the scan.
- The bot reads the page as a normal visitor sees it, and runs automated accessibility tests on it.
- The scan is passive. The bot does not log in, does not send forms and does no security testing.
How the bot identifies itself
The bot sends this user-agent string: 4mazingBot/1.0 (+https://accessly.4mazing.io/how-our-scan-works)
In a robots.txt file, the bot matches the product token 4mazingBot.
The bot belongs to Accessly, a product of 4mazing.
How to block the bot
Add these lines to the robots.txt file at the root of your site:
User-agent: 4mazingBot Disallow: /
- The bot respects robots.txt and Crawl-delay.
- When robots.txt blocks the bot, the scan stops and we make no report.
